During high school, [Alma] Engle joined the Brethren in Christ Church and began dressing plain. It was a big decision to make, she said, because of peer pressure.
Engle is now the oldest member of Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church. She had been active in the church and was its first woman deacon, serving for eight years.
