Richard T. Hughes currently serves as University Scholar in Residence at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. He previously taught at Pepperdine University, Southwest Missouri State University, Abilene Christian University, and Messiah College. He is the author of eighteen books, most recently The Grace of Troublesome Questions: Vocation, Restoration, and Race (ACU Press, 2022). This article is based on the lecture he gave during the 2022 Schrag Lecture Series at Messiah University in March 2023.
