Ronald J. R. Mathies was named executive director emeritus of Mennonite Central Committee bi-national after nine years (1996-2005) in that role. He and his wife Gudrun served with MCC in Malawi (1964-1967, 1970-1973) as educators/administrators, and in Swaziland (1978-1981) as southern Africa coordinators. In addition to his many years in MCC governance, he was the director of the Peace and Conflict Studies program at Conrad Grebel University College (1986-1996). In retirement, he has served as an international development consultant evaluating MCC programs in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
