In early 2015, the Brethren in Christ Historical Library and Archives at Messiah College announced the launch of its new digital archives initiative. This multi-year project involved the digitization of a great deal of archival material: print periodicals such as the Evangelical Visitor and Amazwi Amahle (Good Words), denominational publications such as the Handbook of Missions, and personal papers such as the journals of H. Frances Davidson, a pioneering nineteenth-century Brethren in Christ missionary in present-day Zimbabwe and Zambia. All of that material is now available to researchers online, through the Archives’ online catalog.
(The Search for Piety and Obedience previously posted about this new digital resource here and here.)
Along with this digital treasure trove of Brethren in Christ materials, the Archives has also produced a handy instructional guide for accessing the digitized materials. The guide is a user-friendly tool that leads researchers through a step-by-step process to find materials relevant to their interests.
The guide will dovetail with a virtual exhibit that the Archives plans to develop in the coming year.
