Quote of the Day

“We have seen nonresistant people somtimes who were very combative in their families, their neighborhoods and their church whenever their wishes were crossed or others did not see fit to repeat their shibboleths. While hurting no one’s bodies, they often deeply wounded their souls.”

Fred Elliot, late nineteenth and early twentieth century Brethren in Christ pastor, in an 1895 Evangelical Visitor article.

  1. A very meaningful and profound quote!
Not being a theologian (although I studied the subject a little in college), I was surfing the web for definitions of non-violence, Pacifism etc. I hadn’t realized how many different words there are and how they are alike or different. I like the quote below, which is similar.

“Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.”
