Here are a few Brethren in Christ-related links that caught my attention over the past weeks!
– The Global Mennonite History Project has released its fourth volume, focusing on Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches in Asia
– Duane Sider, son of the late Brethren in Christ bishop and World Missions director Roy Sider, reflects on his father’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease
– Bethel University professor Chris Gerhz provides recaps of last week’s Colloquium on Pietism Studies here, here, and here
– UK-based Zimbabwean gospel musician Mthulisi Dube is the son of a Brethren in Christ minister
Roy Sider was very influential for me and many many others growing up during his time of influence, especially here in the Niagara area. We remember him as wonderful listener, a real role model, a cogent speaker. Huge thanks to Duane for this loving portrait of his father’s illness.
My thoughts exactly, Pauline. Although I didn’t grow up in the Niagara area, I remember Roy (Bishop Sider) well from his visits in the Canadian Conference, and from our visits to the Niagara area.
