I hope all the readers of The Search for Piety and Obedience are planning to attend this year’s annual meeting of the Brethren in Christ Historical Society on October 20. The event, held at the Grantham (Pa.) Church, will celebrate the life and work of Dr. E. Morris Sider, the founder of the Society and its journal, Brethren in Christ History and Life. Sider retired from the Society and the journal earlier this year, after thirty-four years of service.
As readers of this blog know well, Dr. Sider has written or edited numerous books related to Brethren in Christ history, belief, and practice. He also served as Executive Director of the Society from its founding in 1976 through 2007.
According to the Historical Society’s newsletter, the evening program — which begins with a catered dinner at 5pm — will feature invited tributes from people familiar with Dr. Sider’s Historical Society work, as well as an “open mic” opportunity for members to briefly share their personal appreciation for Dr. Sider’s ministry as Editor and Executive Director of the Society.
Check out the newsletter for more info on how to register for the event. Tickets are $15 and must be ordered by October 15th.
